l’amour de soi

This is an open letter to anyone ;

anyone who hates to face the mirror because they find themselves unattractive ;

anyone who can’t walk with their heads held high because they’re too shy ;

anyone who thinks that having excessive body fats, double or triple chin, lumps make you ugly ;

anyone who believes that your skin complexion makes you less of a person;

anyone who believes that having a big bum makes you attractive and they’ll call you flat if you don’t have boobs ;

anyone who thinks that society’s norms will help you in fitting in if you conform to each of them ;

anyone who has been called names because of their physical appearance ;

anyone who wants to be a beauty queen but are called “ugly” ;

anyone who has a passion but lost the fire in doing so ;

anyone who feels as if they are not capable of winning or doing something exemplary because they lost their self-esteem ;

anyone who has been deprived of opportunities, because they are person with disabilities ;

anyone who has fallen in love countless times but still got hurt and abandoned in the end ;

anyone who long for a happy family but their parents separated ;

anyone who doesn’t have anything to believe in because of several disappointments ;

anyone who feels that erudition is found only in people who excel in academics ;

anyone who wants to attain quality education but they are not financially capable ;

anyone who slacks and does not take education seriously because they believe that’s the only thing they can be good at ;

anyone who has been deprived of their rights because there is social stratification ;

anyone who died fighting for their rights ;

anyone who is living for their dreams ;

anyone ;

You are not unattractive, you’re just looking at the wrong side of the mirror. Take it slow, you’re in the process of metamorphosis and one day, you’ll see yourself as wonderful as a butterfly. You are not unattractive, you are fearfully and wonderfully made ;

You have the most precious eyes and the most amazing smile and you don’t need anyone to tell you that because believe me, you are something else; you are the catch, you are one in a million. There is more to life when you up and radiate the world with your everything ;

I believe that people can be large in size on the outside but empty on the inside. Size doesn’t matter, it’s what makes you stand out from everyone. And you know what makes you special? It’s how big you are on the inside; how much love you have, how much passion you have, how much compassion you have inside. That’s the size that matters.

Colors doesn’t make you less, it makes the world “more” ; More real, more alive, more stupendous. Your skin complexion makes the world a canvas and you are the art; you are the masterpiece ;

I don’t have a large bum or humongous breasts but that doesn’t make me less of a woman. I am more than just a woman; I have faith, passion, wits, dream, rights, integrity, philosophy, compassion, my family, my true friends and the Lord ;

Conforming to the world does not confirm who you are and what you can be in this world. Even if they call you weird because of your judgments or the way you see things. You have every right to say “no” and be different. There’s nothing wrong with being different, it makes you, you ;

What you look like, maybe you can’t change that. But what you can do, is change the way people see you. Make them see what’s inside of you, your talents, your inner beauty. Don’t make every effort to please anyone, because you only need to please God and you only need your heart to please Him ;

We are not ugly, it’s just the society setting standards that is not a test to be aced by us. A beauty queen is someone who advocates not just world peace but makes every effort to make a change in the world; someone who influences, someone who has a heart bigger than any crown or any pageant. And standards can not stop you from being a beauty queen, with or without a crown ;

You can’t unlearn something you used to do or used to know. Whenever you feel like you’re a rock, use that rock to make the fire inside you ablaze again. Your passion is your remedy, your art, your soul ;

You can’t always win, you can’t always be the best but even so, be a good man. You can be the best but forget about being good. Be good even in the midst of chaos, disappointments, failures. Do what is right, what is good for you. Then you can be the best ;

People with disabilities aren’t people who can’t do anything. In fact they are people who sometimes give much more contribution to the world. So don’t call them or yourselves: people with disabilities instead, call yourselves people with these abilities ;

Don’t believe in the saying, “Even if you fall, keep picking yourself up.” Don’t let yourself fall without being a hundred percent sure that this guy or girl has build himself/ herself up in order to be the best for you. Do not let that person break down the foundation you built for yourself ;

You cannot change the way your parents want their life to be. You can be sad for a while but forgive them and find love at the right time and have a family that you dreamed of ;

There are disappointments but count your blessings and you’ll see how God has been good to you. Sometimes, there are blessings we cannot see but then God revealed them to us in the most unexpected way ;

Knowledge isn’t only found in studies, it is how your mind works and what your heart comprehends. It is how and when you decide ;

Education isn’t the key to success; you are the key to your success. Your passion, your perseverance, your dreams ;

If you’re so good at slacking then be bad at it. I know there’s something else inside you, you just gotta find it in you ;

Don’t stop fighting for equality, equity, justice, no matter who you are in the society; you have rights as a human being ;

And if you died fighting, I salute you. I and all the national heroes salute you.

And lastly, those who live for their dreams, keep on living for them but don’t let yourself die of working so hard for your future. Remember you’re just wasting every penny, effort and time when you invest more in your future and neglect the present ;

And to all the people in the universe, big or small: YOU ARE WANTED.
